What is a Sound Bath?
A Sound Bath is a sound healing experience intended for many individuals. Participants take a comfortable position, such as lying down or seated, often with a blanket or eye masks. After a few minutes of grounding, guided breathwork, the participants are “bathed in sound” by the sound practitioner. The whole experience usually lasts around an hour. Several healing instruments are used including crystal singing bowls, Himalayan singing bowls, shakers, drums, gongs, and in my case, an upright bass. The overall intention, however, remains the same; to promote relaxation and restoration to the participant’s bodies, minds and spirits.
What are the benefits of a Sound Bath?
Sound Baths, like meditation and yoga, affect individuals differently. Common benefits include:
- Feeling calmer / less stressed
- Lessen muscle tension
- A greater sense of relaxation
- Pain relief
- The ability to sleep better
- Improved mood
- Better mind body connection
What should I bring to a Sound Bath?
At the bare minimum, you should bring a floor mat if you intend to lie down or a cushion if you intend to sit. You can also bring a comfortable blanket, or an eye-mask for a deeper experience. Bringing a bottle of water is also recommended, as good hydration can enhance the benefits.
Interested in a Sound Bath? Let’s Talk About it!
I have public Sound Baths regularly, but if you’re interested in having a private sound bath for your friends, family or coworkers at a location of your choosing, please reach out! These experiences are portable and travel well to special locations.
